If you’re in the market for a new desk and you own an iMac, you’re in luck! We’ve put together a list of the 5 best desks for an iMac. Each desk on our list is designed to accommodate the unique dimensions of an iMac, as well as provide plenty of space for other peripherals and accessories. So, which desk is right for you? Keep reading to find out!
When using any monitor there are certain ergonomic pointers you should always keep in mind. The top of your screen should be at eye level, and your elbows should be at a 90-degree angle when typing.
All the iMacs produced over the last 10 years have very similar dimensions. So whether you have the 2009 or 2021 model these recommendations are going to be great for your iMac. All the desks I suggest fit the 27 inch iMac models, meaning they will also fit the 24 inch model. The difference in desk space taken up by the 2 sizes of iMac is relatively similar (4 inches difference to be exact).

FEZIBO Height Adjustable Desk
Height-adjustable desks are more popular than ever, with more individuals and companies than ever seeking their health benefits. They make the transition from sitting to standing completely effortless. These occasional shifts in the body’s position and posture are not only essential for efficient blood circulation but also for keeping the mind alert. The ability to adjust height can help in the reduction of back pain, increase productivity levels, and also potentially reduce your risk of cancer.
On the FEZIBO Height Adjustable Desk there are four preset height buttons that you can customize the height for you. The height can range from 32.48 inches to 51.38 inches. That is an excellent feature since it gives you the flexibility of both sitting and standing (switching between sitting and standing has been shown to be one of the most beneficial uses of height adjustable desks).
You also get 2 pull-out drawers included on the FEZIBO desk. These are not only convenient but they help elevate your iMac to a better ergonomic height than would be achieved by a standard desk.
The Fezibo height adjustable desk is effortless to put together. The ease of assembly doesn’t compromise on the stability of the desk, it has lockable casters, and can hold up to 150lbs.
The desk’s legs are also 360-degree swivel wheels, allowing you to move your workstation without causing harm to your floor. If you’re looking for a height adjustable desk for your iMac, I personally recommend the FEZIBO height adjustable desk on Amazon.
Pros
- 3 preset heights
- Easily switch from sitting to standing setup
- Useful built-in drawers
- 360 degree swivel wheels
Cons
- It’s pretty heavy, this makes constructing it a two-man job
FLEXISPOT Stand Up Workstation
If you want a simple height adjustable desk that will suit your iMac perfectly then you are in luck. This desk from FLEXISPOT is a clean-looking easy standing desk that you can both sit and stand at.
The electric motor system allows for smooth, low-noise height adjustments. You can adjust from 28″ to 47.6″ in height, and this adjustment takes less than 20 seconds in total. To make it even more convenient you obviously also get 4 programmable height memory presets. This means that when you find a perfect height you can save it, change the height, then comes right back to the height you saved with ease.
With a weight capacity of 154lbs, you can rest assured the desk is more than strong enough to hold your iMac, mouse, keyboard, books, desk lamp… You get the point. It’s sturdy.
Desk depth is often overlooked by many people. Personally, I think it can be even more important than the width of a desk. Many manufacturers offer incredibly wide desks, all while hiding the fact the desk has a very inconveniently small depth. This can lead to cramped arms while typing, or simply insufficient room for the things you want to get done on your desk. The 30″ depth offered by this desk means you don’t have to worry about any of that. You will have more than enough room to type, write, and more in comfort.

Pros
- 4 preset heights
- Quickly change from seated to standing setup
- Simple design
- Multiple beautiful-looking color options
Cons
- No storage built in
CubiCubi Large Computer Desk
Elegant, Stylish, and CHEAP?! It might not look like a budget option but this desk from CubiCubi is my selection for the best budget desk for iMac. You can find it on Amazon here.
You get plenty of size and color options with this desk, my personal favorite color option is the one you can see in the images above – ‘Wood Eleves’. I think this color selection or just going for the black option will look best with your space gray or silver iMac. As for the sizes, there are 3 viable options for your iMac, any others would be too small. The 47″ model is the smallest you should go in order to have enough room for your Mac and peripherals. Anything bigger than 47″, so the 55″ or 63″, will be even better. I’d recommend going for the 55″ over the 47″ if possible, just to give you a little more freedom, but 47″ is just about enough.
The elevated monitor stand makes it easier to adopt an ergonomic position (if you are not a fan of monitor stands then here is a similar alternative without the stand).
The cable management split, headphone hooks, and easy installation make this desk convenient for any iMac user.
Pros
- Clean and elegant design
- Monitor stand for better ergonomics
- Multiple beautiful looking design options
- Cord management slit
Cons
- Not the strongest desk on the list (to be expected at this price point)
Teraves L-Shaped Desk
L-shaped desks are well-known for increasing workspace while also seeming to take up less room space. Moreover, L-shaped desks are fond of utilizing the corners in an office, something standard desks wouldn’t do. This a great budget L-Shaped desk that provides sufficient strength, style, and size for your iMac.
The Teraves reversible L-shaped desk comes with 2 storage shelves as well as a neat little CPU stand to keep your PC off the floor. The reversible feature enables you to switch where the long side of the desk is, meaning you can assemble the desk to better fit your workspace. The feature can be surprisingly important when you are dealing with tight office spaces, or have obstacles such as radiators or windows to avoid.
The Teraves reversible L-Shaped desk is made from particle board which means the desk is significantly lighter than the likes of the FEZIBO. Nonetheless, the desk has a weight limit of 110lbs. Meaning it is strong enough to hold your Mac and peripherals without any worries.

Pros
- L-Shaped space-saving design
- Convenient built-in shelves
- Bonus CPU stand
- Reversible design
Cons
- There are definitely stronger desks on the market
Best Desk Height Adjuster for iMac – Varidesk Height Adjuster
Now you might not class this as a desk. BUT I wanted to include this in my list as I feel desk adjusters are often overlooked. Everyone wants the benefits of a flashy height adjustable desk, only to become a little put off by how much space they can take up. A standing desk converter can be a convenient more compact alternative to a standing desk.
The Varidest height adjustable desk comes with two spacious tiers. That provides a decent amount of working area. The upper tier can more than accommodate your iMac, while the lower deck can accommodate a keyboard, mouse & documents. What else do you really need?
The Varidesk also includes a unique rolling-lift elevating mechanism that moves up and down, allowing you to maintain your natural position to avoid back strain. The desk is made from substantial, high-quality materials and has a weighted base to keep it stable. The innovative, spring-loaded lift was created with your safety in mind. See the VariDesk Height adjuster here on Amazon.
Pros
- Easily switch from sitting to standing setup
- Removes the need for a brand new desk
Cons
- Doesn’t look as good as an electric height adjustable desk
What To Look For In A Desk For iMac
Width
A desk for an iMac should be at least 50″ wide, although a bigger desk is almost always better for productivity. If you have a 27 inch iMac, then the width of the screen and frame will be 25.6″ or 21.54″ if you have a 24 inch iMac model. A desk width of 50″ or above will give you plenty of room for a mouse, keyboard, and any other accessories you might need.
Depth
When it comes to depth, an iMac desk should be at least 24″ deep. This will give you enough space to comfortably use your mouse and keyboard without having them hanging off the edge of the desk. The depth of an iMac varies from 5 to 9″ dependent on which model you have, either way, 24″ will be enough for your peripherals. Although if you also intend to write at your desk as well I suggest trying to get a desk with a couple of extra inches in depth for your comfort.
Height (Sitting or Standing)
Standing desks are becoming ever more popular and for good reason, they do a great job of keeping you out of a sedentary position (sitting for prolonged periods of time has been associated with health issues). This means they are also some of the best computer desks for iMac as well.
If you want to use your iMac while standing then you’ll need a desk that is at least 48″ tall. This will put the top of your screen at eye level when standing and help reduce neck strain. If you would rather sit while using your iMac then a standard 29″ to 30″ desk should suffice.
When people are unsure whether to go for a seated or standing desk I like to suggest they try a height-adjustable desk like the one at the top of this list. An adjustable desk allows you to have the best of both worlds as you can sit or stand depending on your needs at any given time. Plus, if you don’t like standing it’s no problem as you still have a perfectly functioning sitting desk as well.
Style
The best desk for an iMac is one that has a wide surface area and is the correct height for you. With that being said, I also think how a desk visually complements a monitor is important. Due to the versatile colors used for all apple products, for the most part, you can get away with any color or material. If you have a silver iMac, then a white desk might be a good choice. If you have a space grey iMac, then a black desk could be a good choice. But as you’ve seen from my desk suggestions, I can’t think of many desk designs that an iMac wouldn’t suit. I’m sure you’ll pick a great color to suit your home office.
